Catherine Almanza, M.S, LMFT, EMDR

Professional Title and Credentials

I’m Catherine Almanza, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in California. I hold advanced training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy. My work is grounded in evidence-based trauma modalities that support long-term healing.

Specializations and Focus Areas

I specialize in treating PTSD, moral injury, and complex trauma, particularly among military personnel, veterans, and first responders. My areas of focus also include dissociation, anxiety, relational stress, and recovery from chronic stress and burnout. I support clients in reconnecting with their bodies, values, and relationships.

Your Philosophy or Approach

I believe healing occurs when we feel safe enough to access our inner resources and reclaim parts of ourselves that have been disconnected by trauma. My approach is body-based, attachment-focused, and collaborative, drawing from EMDR, somatic psychology, and parts work. I meet each client where they are, offering tools to build nervous system regulation and emotional resilience.

A Touch of Your Personality

Clients often describe me as grounded, warm, and nonjudgmental. I bring a calm presence into the therapy space and value authenticity, curiosity, and humor in the healing process. I aim to create an environment where clients feel seen, respected, and empowered.

Professional Background and Experience

I have over five years of experience supporting individuals navigating trauma, addiction, and life transitions in both community mental health and private practice settings. My clinical background includes working with diverse populations in outpatient, crisis, and telehealth settings. I’m committed to serving those who serve and bring cultural humility and a deep respect for the resilience of my clients.
