Tanya L. Hauer, M.S. ACSW
I am Tanya L. Hauer, Associate Clinical Social Worker (ACSW), and my work is grounded in a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach that honors the adaptations people develop in order to survive and function. For many veterans, first responders, and individuals who have carried significant responsibility, resilience is not simply a personal strength, it becomes a necessity. The same qualities that enable people to endure hardship, complete the mission, and care for others can sometimes make it difficult to recognize their own needs or ask for support. I specialize in working with trauma, PTSD, addiction, anxiety, depression, grief, and life transitions, helping clients understand how survival strategies that once served them may need to evolve to support healing, connection, and long-term well-being.My clinical approach integrates EMDR, somatic interventions, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and nervous system-informed practices. I am especially interested in helping clients understand the connection between thoughts, emotions, physical sensations, and survival responses. Many of the individuals I work with have spent years living within performance-based systems where self-worth becomes tied to achievement, competence, productivity, or service to others. Together, we explore how these beliefs may have once supported survival while also creating barriers to self-compassion, connection, and emotional well-being. My goal is to create a therapeutic environment that balances accountability, self-compassion, and meaningful personal growth.Topics and Areas of ExpertiseMy areas of focus include trauma and PTSD, addiction and recovery, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, self-esteem, identity development, relationship challenges, and stress management. I have a particular passion for helping first responders, veterans, caregivers, and helping professionals reconnect with who they are beyond their roles and responsibilities. My groups often explore resilience, emotional regulation, shame, self-compassion, values, purpose, and the process of rebuilding trust in oneself after adversity. I am especially interested in helping clients shift from performance-based self-worth toward a more stable sense of value that is rooted in authenticity, self-acceptance, and personal meaning.Additional Certifications and Special SkillsI am EMDR trained and integrate somatic and experiential approaches to support trauma recovery and nervous system regulation. I am also a certified Equine Specialist and have extensive experience utilizing nature-based and experiential interventions to promote healing, self-awareness, and connection. My work is informed by an appreciation for the powerful relationship between mind, body, and environment. I strive to help clients develop practical tools for recovery while fostering deeper insight, resilience, and lasting change.
